Can't keep a good meal down

it
just
comes
back
up!

mommy and daddy are soooooo happy!
Thank God her healthy growth continues...Now over 15# and taller than 24"!
Lesson # 10: Be patient and keep shoveling...eventually
you'll have less food on the face and more in the tummy!

Happy Father's Day!

Well,
It's been waaaaaaaaaaaaaay tooooo long since we've updated this blog.
Lots of growth in the last month; the little angel is well over 12 pounds and is pushing past 24 inches! We have a serious backlog of photos to publish so hang on for more additions to the virtual photo album.
So, this picture is from early April and Olivia is substantially LARGER.
Thank God that this child continues to grow and be in excellent health!
Appropriate Bible quote for today:
"Honor your father and mother"
Ephesians 6:2

The snoring machine
So,
Most parents have to suffer through the unerving uncertainty that their child is actually breathing....that's not normally a problem in our house.
; o )
Make sure your volume is up when watching this video clip:
Matt 19:14 But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Tempus fugit
Oh MY how the time flies!Daddy: What a FOOL to think you'd have time to blog every day of my infant antics
: o )
Somebody has also found that digits make great pacifiers.
But those only work for so long.
April 29th already...and the little muchkin is already up to 9.5#!
WOW! She eats ALOT.
Trying to give mom a break tonight...I'm off for what should be the last feeding of this evening; the next one should be in the wee hours of the last day of April, 2008!
Lesson #8: Always have the replacement diaper in place while disposing of the dirty one!

Baby's first bath
This video clip was shot on 6 April. It was the first bath she had in our home.
It's a Girl!
Okay. So after a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong hiatus from this blog, we have VERY
happy news: Olivia Marie; born 28 March 2008!
Thank the Lord for this healthy, happy, child!
Looks like I'll be backtracking over the coming weeks to catch up on ALL that has happened since the prior entry (HINT: there's LOTS : o )
So, begins the plethora of 'lessons' that this blog promises to deliver:
Lesson #1: Expect the unexpected
Lesson #2: Solicit support from family or friends with Lesson #1
during the first few days after delivery
Lesson #3: Burp early and often (and already have the burp cloth in place)
Lesson #4: Put your wife's needs first
Lesson #5: Sleep when the baby sleeps
Lesson #6: Caffeine is your friend
1 Samuel 1:28 (Change the gender references here to feminine)
So I have also dedicated him to the LORD; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the LORD...

First 'official' contraction
That's right! The end (and new beginning) is near!
During this morning's stress test (for the baby's health) a contraction was registered on the paper that the little machine/monitor spews out.
At the end of the session the paper makes it look like Nat was taking a lie detector test or something. Anyway, all is well with mother and child and I'm on call 24/7 as the designated driver.
: o )
How precious is this child? See:
Matt 10:30-31

Names
Not knowing the gender obviously doubles the struggle over names.
Fortunately, we've decided on a girl's name: Olivia Marie
Potential boy names (all with the middle name Edward):
Clayton, Colin, Gavin, Simon and Lucas.
The 'right' one changes daily (hourly).
Ugh!

Car seat & go-bag
We continue to inch closer to the happy day!
Got the car seat in the van (under supervision of an experienced neighbor) and have cobbled together a hospital 'go'-bag.
The baby continues to move and kick - ALOT!
We're amazed at the miracle that continues to grow inside of Nat and can't believe how close she is to delivery! Thank God that we're in the homestretch.

Passing week 37
Better late than never, right? Been meaning to get a blog up and running to detail our parenthood 'adventure' and archive lessons learned along the way.
We passed the 37 week milestone on Thursday, 13 March.
The baby is kicking like crazy!
We call those moves: 'baby tae-bo' : o )
So grateful to God for this creation; this child.
Can't wait to see this kid!
Boy/Girl? Glad we opted NOT to find out the gender...
